Batesburg – William “Bill” Lithgow Gough sank his last putt this week. After a long fight with his lungs, he passed away Nov. 2nd ; he was 77.Bill was born in Plainfield, N.J. on May 21, 1940 to Thomas and Sylvia Gough. He was the youngest of three children and spent most of his life in New Jersey.As a young man, Bill joined the Army and became a military policeman. He later capitalized on his outgoing personality and excelled in sales for more than 30 years.During his sales career and retirement, Bill was an avid golfer and achieved a hole in one on three different occasions.Bill was always the life of the party and will be greatly missed by his friends and most of all by his children. Bill is survived by his son and best friend, Sean; daughter, Brenda Menichillo; daughter, Shannon Allison; daughter, Laura Gaton; and sister, Gail Eidsvig. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren (Hannah, Kaylen, Jack, Gabe, Hope, Lucas and Henry) and Sean and Brenda's mother, Joan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia, as well as his parents and his brother, Tim. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 at Temples-Halloran Funeral & Cremation Services in Columbia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
