Todd Andrew Mastin

Todd Andrew Mastin, 47, of Irmo, SC, died unexpectedly of a sudden illness on Sunday, February 11th, 2018. He was the beloved son of Philip L. Mastin (Mary Ann) (Atlanta, GA) and Pamela Franklin Vasali (Arpad) (Hungary and Tarpon Springs, FL). He was also the father of William “Liam” Todd Mastin of Hamilton, OH, and the older brother of Douglas L. Mastin (Tina) (Lexington, SC). Todd is survived by uncles, Edward Mastin (Tina), David Mastin (Dona), and Peter Mastin (Jamie), and aunts, Debbie Franklin Datilio, Robin Franklin Grabek, and Hollis Franklin Barry (Gery). He was the cherished uncle of Devon and Conner Mastin. Todd was a beloved cousin to many on both the Mastin and Franklin sides of the family. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Edward and Virginia Mastin and Robert and Jane Franklin. Todd’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his 5-year-old son, Liam. They read together, went to the library and to parks together, went to the Riverbanks Zoo (one of Liam’s favorite places) and just snuggled. Todd was a wonderful father, patient, gentle but firm. Everyone who knew Todd recognized his sharp mind and slightly sardonic sense of humor. He loved music (heavy metal especially) and was a fearsome competitor in any trivia contest. Todd worked for over 20 years as a cook at various Outback Steakhouses in South Carolina, most recently (and for the longest time) at the Outback Restaurant on Harbison Blvd in Irmo. Todd was a 1988 Honor Graduate of Irmo High School and attended Georgia Tech for two years in the late 80’s. Most recently he had been pursuing a degree in Accounting at Midlands Tech. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Ashland United Methodist Church, 2600 Ashland Road, Columbia, with reception to follow at the church.
