Paul Edward Trussell

COLUMBIA—Paul E. Trussell, 72, of Columbia, passed away June 27, 2017 at Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge. He was born the youngest child of the late James H. and Lucille R. Trussell on May 9, 1945 in Manchester, TN.Survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Michael Trussell and Anthony (Jeanne) Trussell, both of Chapin, SC; 4 grandchildren, Austin, Ryan, Alyssa and Emma.Also survived by a sister, Joann (Jim) Smith ofGulf Breeze, FL; brothers, Bill Trussell of Chapin, SC and Ray (Vivian) Trussell of Belvedere, TN along with numerous nieces and nephews.Predeceased by a brother, Ronald Trussell. He graduated from Tennessee Tech University in 1967 with a BS in Industrial Technology.After working as an Engineer with General Motors in Dayton, Ohio, he worked for privately owned construction companies before forming his own company.Then moved to Columbia, SC in 1984, forming Trussell Bros. Construction with his brother.He continued on with the company after his brother left in 1991, doing underground water and sewer projects, pump stations, storm drains, etc. For cities and counties in the states of South Carolina and North Carolina and receiving the Carolina’s Associated General Contractor’s Pinnacle Award.He was an avid car lover. Had extensive car collection and owned a Pro-Modified drag racing car for 17 years. He also loved sports of almost any kind and was a devoted supporter of The University of South Carolina Gamecocks. Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 with the Reverend Dr. Mark Bredholt officiating.The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Carolina American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or a charity of one’s choice. \
