COLUMBIA—Monica Catherine (Olkowski) Szymanski, 69, died in Columbia, SC, December 27, 2014. She was born in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, January 13, 1945, to her loving parents, Francis Olkowski Moeller of Columbia, South Carolina, and Alphonse Olkowski of Lyndhurst, New Jersey. Monica was a loving and faithful member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, the Columbia Sailing Club, and was the President of the Catholic Women of South Carolina. Monica was survived in death by her loving and dedicated husband of 50 years, Stephen Szymanski, Sr. of Columbia, South Carolina.She was the second of four children and is survived by her brothers, William Olkowski of Santa Barbara, California, Michael and Beverly Olkowski of Wallington, New Jersey, and her sister, Diane and Jon Todd of Reno, Nevada. She is survived by two sons, Stephen Szymanski, Jr. (Melissa), grandchildren; Katherine and Mary (Mimi) Szymanski of Columbia, South Carolina, and Gregory Szymanski, grandchildren; Ainsley and Peyton Szymanski of Chapin, South Carolina. A Prayer Vigil and Celebration of Monica’s Life will be held, Friday, January 2, 2015, at 6:30 PM at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. The Right of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.Father David Whitman will be officiating. The inurnment will follow immediately at Our Lady of Lake Catholic Church, 195 Amicks Ferry Road, Chapin, SC 29036. Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 is serving the family.
