COLUMBIA—A graveside service for David B. Goewey 72 of Columbia will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016 in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, 325 Greenlake Road, Rossville, GA 30741. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. David passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016. Born in Pittsville, MA, He was the son of the late Donald P. and Hilda McAvoy Goewey.He transferred 35 years ago from Rome, GA, toColumbia in 1981 by General Electric to the Columbia Sales office as a Sales Rep. After 20 years with GE he moved on to Bryant Division (Westinghouse) Electrical for 10 years.David eventually moved on to P&S (Hubbell) where he retired in 2013.Currently David was employed with City Electric Supply as a sales representative. While in Rome, GA he was a radio disc jockey where David was known as the original “Boogie Man.”He also was a disc jockey at a local club in Rome, GA. David is survived by his wife, of 40 years,Cathy E. Goewey;son, Kenneth D. Goewey of Rome, GA; nieces, Wendy Archdeacon of Boiling Green, KY, Nicole Burton (Matt) of Pegram, TN; great nieces, Kirsten McCord and Jamie Yates; and David’s special four legged friend, Scooter.
