COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Yoma Stokes Duryea, 89, of Columbia, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Park Street Baptist Church, 2204 Park Street, Columbia, SC 29201.Reverend Lawrence Dennis and Reverend Timothy Stokes will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.The family will greet friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 is assisting the family. Mrs. Duryea passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Born Yoma Kathleen Wavra, she was a daughter of the late James Edward Wavra and Elizabeth Culclasure Wavra. She was a graduate of Taylors High School in Taylors, SC and Draughon’s Business College in Greenville, SC. She was a faithful member since 1950 of Park Street Baptist Church, where she taught kindergarten, Children’s Sunday School, GA’s and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a member of Sanctuary Choir and Keenagers Bowling League.Yoma was a past member and officer of the Summerlea Variety Club. She worked for Liberty Life Insurance, Farm Bureau Insurance and Kelly Services. She loved family, music, crafts, crossword puzzles, reading and bowling. Surviving are her daughters, Libbie S. Moore, husband Woody of Chapin and Annice Harrelson, husband Milton of Matthews, NC; son, Stephen A. “Andy” Stokes III and wife, Valda of Columbia; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Louise Barton and husband, James of Laurens.She was preceded in death by her husbands, Stephen A. Stokes, Jr. and Raymond Duryea and grandson, Rodrick Scott Stokes. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
