Wynona "Nonie" Bettis Jones

COLUMBIA—Wynona “Nonie” Bettis Jones of Columbia went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 30th.There will be a celebration of her life on Thursday, May 4th at 11:00 a.m. at the Temple-Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Wynona was born August 11, 1935 in Caldwell, Kansas. She was the daughter of the late Dan and Lois Bettis. Three of her siblings also preceded her in death, Arlene Mills (Bill), Alda Coston and Howard Bettis (Ruthie).She is survived by a brother, David Bettis (Doris), and her baby sister, Cheryl Wheeler (John).Nonie married in 1957 and had three children with her former husband, Bob Jones, who also preceded her in death. The children are Dana Hankins (Bob) of Columbia, Debbie Anderson (David) of Chapin and Lt. Col Curtis Jones (Kristi) of Anderson.She had seven grandchildren, Tim Boone, Amy Rabon, Michael Anderson (Christina), Krista Anderson (Michael), Matt Anderson, Allie Anderson and Kyle Jones.She also had two great grandsons, Colby Rabon and Maxwell Harris. She also leaves behind many dearly loved nieces and nephews. Nonie moved to South Carolina in 1972 and as her children grew older she went to work for the Federal Reserve Bank. She retired in 1996 and devoted her life to help serve her friends and family. She loved others with her whole heart. Yacht Cove has been her home for thirty- seven years where she had many dear friends. She had two very special friends, Larry Reynolds and Era Woods who became family. All her family and friends will dearly miss Nonie.
