Wilson Horton

Columbia – Donald Wilson Horton, 87, of Columbia passed away peacefully Thursday, April 13, 2017 in his home.Wilson, the husband of Sue Horton, was born May 1, 1929 in Whiteville, North Carolina to the late Donald H. and Sallie T. Horton.Wilson served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of NC State University. He worked for the South Carolina Forestry Commission for over 34 years. Surviving along with his wife, Sue, of Columbia are his son, Mark Horton (Lou Ann) of Suwanee, GA and his grandsons, Kyle and Caleb Horton; step-children, Tami Kyre (David) of Irmo; Julian Whitlock of Columbia; and Michael Whitlock (Kelly) of Prosperity.Wilson was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica, step-grandson, Daniel, and step-daughter, Vanessa. The memorial service will be Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Rd, Columbia SC 29212. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Jessica Horton Scholarship in the USC School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
