IRMO—Funeral services for Willie Horace Weed, Jr., 68, of Irmo will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 1541 Lake Murray Blvd, Columbia, SC 29212.Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Reverend Paul Sizemore will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday, November 21, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. “Horace, Jr.” beloved husband of Flora P. Weed, died at his residence Thursday, November 17, 2016.Born in Lexington, SC he was the son of the late Willie Horace Weed, Sr. and Nellie Marie Harrison Weed.He graduated from Irmo High School where he played football for the Yellow Jackets.Following his high school graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.A lifelong member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, he served as an usher as well as many committees through out the church. He spent many of his working years in the Aeronautical Industry with companies such as Lockheed Martin and Bell Helicopter.Horace, Jr. liked anything dealing with aviation and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Surviving in addition to his wife of 47 years, Flora Weed of Irmo; sons, Clinton Daniel Weed (Kelly G.) of Pelion and Travis Porter Weed of Irmo; sisters, Phyllis Bray-Hoffman (Eli) of Lexington and Brenda Ferri (Edward) of West Columbia; brother, Dennis Ray Weed (Karen) of West Columbia; grandsons, Justin and Chance Covington; nephew, Michael Ferri and niece, Shannon Cochran and Lynn Vasquez .
