William Stroud Workman

September 29, 1938 — August 10, 2024

William Stroud Workman, 85, of Columbia, South Carolina, was called home to God on August 10th, 2024, while surrounded by his family. Visitation will be prior to the service for family and friends – Gamecock attire is encouraged! Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16th, at Temples-Halloran on 5400 Bush River Road in Columbia followed by a Celebration of Life conducted by Rev. Bill Haselden. Interment in Bush River Memorial Gardens will follow the service. He and his beloved wife and best friend, Nancy, had been married for sixty-five wonderful years. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Clawson, and son, Bucky (Bill, Jr), (Joleen); and loves of his life grandchildren, Austin, Katie and Meghan. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born in Chester, SC, to the late William N. Workman and Margaret S. Workman. After winning the State Championship in football, he graduated from Rock Hill High School and attended the University of South Carolina. Bill was a devoted Gamecock fan through good times and bad. He was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church and the Koinonia Sunday School class as well as a life member of the Boyleston Masonic Lodge #123. He was in the finance business for over 30 years and had many happy years of retirement. The family is so grateful for the love and care the staff and nurses at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care bestowed upon our Dad during his 2 ½ years with them. MSA Hospice provided support and comfort during his last few days of life. In lieu of flowers, please visit Gideons.org (www.gideons.org/donate)
