William Ernest Tourville

William Ernest “Bill” Tourville, 82, of Columbia, SC, passed away suddenly on December 9, 2024, due to a heart attack. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY, on May 28, 1942, to the late William E. Tourville, Sr., and Dora Amo Tourville. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 56 years Deanie Sams Tourville; his brothers Joseph Tourville, Arthur Tourville, and Larry Tourville, and sisters Wilma Farley, Caroline Tarricone, and Gloria Manny.

He is survived by his daughters, Suzanne (Loukas Grafakos) of Columbia, MO, and Julie (Nic Finelli) of Charlotte, NC, and his six grandchildren, Joanna, Dina, and Dora Grafakos, and Leo, Stella, and Eli Finelli. He is also survived by his sisters Sylvia Stack of Plattsburgh, NY, and Diane Sitte of Toronto, ON. Katherine “Kitty” Hepfer of Columbia, SC, was his valued companion in his last few years.

Bill graduated from Plattsburgh High School in Plattsburgh, NY, and from the University of South Carolina with a degree in accounting. He was a certified public accountant and began his career at J.W. Hunt in Columbia. He went on to found an accounting firm where he enjoyed serving clients and small community banks around SC. In his later years, he owned and operated a tax preparation business where he continued to work with clients until his death. He loved people, adventure, music, photography, and the Gamecocks and was curious, hardworking, resilient, and engaged in life. He will be deeply missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, Columbia, SC, on Tuesday, December 17, at 10:00 AM, with burial following at Bush River Memorial Gardens. Reverend Bruce Barnett will officiate.
