William "Billy" F. Still

CHAPIN – Billy Still, 86, of Chapin, South Carolina passed away on May 20, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was a great and humorous man who was much beloved by his wife of 50 years, Shirley, his children, grandchildren and his many friends. He was born June 30, 1930 in Olar, SC to Berry Aiken Still and Annie Lou Faust. He was a local sports favorite in a hometown that he held dear for his entire life.Billy was a railroad man where he worked as an engineer, retiring after 51 years from CSX Transportation in 2002.He served in the Allendale National Guard and was an Omar Shriner, and a charter member of Chapin Baptist Church. Billy is survived by his wife, his four children, Sheron Weller (Jerry), Carol Budig (Bill), Berry Still and BJ Still (Charles Demetriades) and 7 grandchildren.He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Carrie Still. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Chapin Baptist Church, 950 OldLexington Hwy., Chapin, SC 29036. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church. Temples-Halloran Funeral Home is assisting. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations in Billy’s memory be given to the local Alzheimer’s Association, 140 Stoneridge Drive, Ste. 210, Columbia, SC 29210. We, his family, would like to thank all those that have sent their thoughts and prayers during his illness.A special thanks to his caregivers and the hospice team that took such wonderful care of him.
