Vicki A. Lechner, 66 of Chapin, SC passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2021, after a brief illness. She departed this life surrounded by her loving family at their Chapin residence. Vicki was born on September 27, 1954, in Columbia, SC. She was the daughter of the late Mildred Geddings Lynch and Joseph Richard Lynch. Vicki was a much-loved wife, mother, and devoted to her family. Vicki was a graduate of the Old Columbia High School, Class of 1972. Vicki’s passion was reading. Her favorite authors were Steven King and James Patterson among many others. Vicki also loved the beach, all animals and enjoyed watching/identifying the many birds that frequented the backyard feeder. Her most enjoyable working experience was with the Richland County Treasurer’s Office. Vicki is survived by her husband of 43 years Alois P. (Louie) Lechner of Chapin, SC; son, Jeremy P. Lechner of Columbia, SC, and beloved family dog, Lucy. She is also survived by her longtime and best friend forever Karen Bates of Red Bank, SC. Funeral services will be performed by Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Rd., Columbia, SC. A Memorial Service will be held on September 18, 2021, with Visitation from 1 – 2 pm with a Service to follow at 2 pm.Chaplain David Deming will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the Lechner Family encourages memorials to be sent to Pawmetto Lifeline, 1275 Bower Parkway, Columbia, SC 29212 and/or St. Joseph’s Indian School, PO Box 100, Chamberlain, SD 57325-0100.
