Vernon Capers Jacobs

Columbia- Mr. Vernon Capers Jacobs, 85, went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2025.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday January 22, 2025, in the chapel of Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, South Carolina with Reverend Tom Harvey officiating, burial will follow the service at Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

A Columbia native, Vernon was born on October 28, 1939, to the late Wilton and Naomi Wilson Jacobs. He attended Dentsville High School where he played Quarterback on the school's football team. His career consisted of ownership of distribution routes. Vernon was a lifetime lover of all things Gamecocks sports. He will be remembered for his love of life and jokester personality. Most importantly the way he loved and spoiled his family.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two sons; Billy Joe Goins, Jr., Terry Dwayne Goins, Sr. and his brother, Beverly Jacobs. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 38 years, Barbara Ann Jacobs; two daughters; Sharon Shealey, Renee Everett (Todd), a daughter in law; Kerryann Ratzlaff, eight grandchildren; Lauren Shealey, Jake Shealey, Rachel Coward (Ricky), Ansley Player (Bobby), Corbyn Player, Wayne Goins, Ella Everett, Jesse Everett, two very special great grandchildren; Piper Watford, Dax Watford and a sister; Kathy Williams.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association.
