Our Mom, Vera Louise (Wuchner) Greenburg, 92, of Columbia, was called home to her Lord and Savior Tuesday, April 14, 2020.Born the second of five siblings on September 26, 1927, to Joseph and Bessie Marie (McClure) Wuchner in Jasper, Indiana, her life came to encompass her family, home, friends, and faith.During World War II, she worked after school in the General Electric Plant in Jasper manufacturing radio components.A professional woman ahead of her time, she worked as a medical records secretary and married Rolland E. Greenburg, MD in 1957.Mom loved cooking, baking, and gardening; she was an avid reader and loved the beach.Mom loved grocery-shopping, hotdogs, and ruffled potato chips.Most of all, she loved being a wife to her husband of 51 years and a mother to her four sons.During those 51 years, Mom lived in eight states and traveled throughout the Far East.She possessed a quiet resolve and inner joy that she imparted to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her sisters Paulyn and Barbara Anne, her father Joseph, her brother Robert, her mother Bess, her husband Rolland, CAPT, USN(Ret) and her brother David.She is survived by her four sons: Rolland E. (Ron) Greenburg, III, Attorney at Law of Columbia, SC; David S. Greenburg, LtCol, USMC(Ret) (Lisa) of Daniel Island, SC; Joseph A. Greenburg, Professional Engineer, (Luanne) of Easley, SC; James R. Greenburg, CDR, USN(Ret) (Cynthia) of Carlisle, PA.She had six (6)grandchildren:Megan Fitzpatrick of Columbia, SC; Kate Gilliom of Charleston, SC; Emily Greenburg of Mount Pleasant, SC and Claire Greenburg of Daniel Island, SC; Nicki Beattie of Easley, SC; and Jessica Greenburg of Carlisle, PA.;and, nine (9) great-grandchildren:Lawson, Jackson (Meaghan), Leo, Ruby, Rory (Kate), Brianna, Savannah, Marissa, Allison (Nicki). Interment will be at the M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson.A memorial ceremony will be held at a later date. As she concealed her tears, she shared her smiles, God’s greatest gift to our family has returned to God.
