COLUMBIA—Venson Lewis Anderson 81, son of Annie Lee and Curtis Anderson passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 after a short illness. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.Venson retired from PYA/Monarch after 33 years as a sales representative.He had a wonderful personality and was admired by all his previous customers.He was a devoted Gamecocks fan.He loved the Gamecock football, basketball and baseball. Venson is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sybil S. Anderson; son, Timothy Anderson; three grandsons, Scott Griffin and his wife, Debbie, Jeffrey Griffin, Joshua Griffin and finance, Whitney Rambo; three great-grandchildren, Amber, Cameron and Peyton Griffin; special aunt and uncle, Carl and Jackie Lorick of Alabama. Venson was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church and was head usher until his stroke in 1999.He would laugh and tell everyone that he was now the head hugger. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063 with interment in Bush River Memorial Gardens.Officiating will be Dr. Ed Carney, Dr. Tim Phillips and Reverend Wayne Cole all of Columbia and Reverend Keith Lorick of Alabama.The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 and all other times at their home. Memorials may be made to Riverland Hills Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063. The family wishes to express thanks to Amedisys Hospice, Darsy and Avis and others for their care.
