COLUMBIA--V. Emma Dalton, 73, passed away peacefully Monday, August 18, 2014 at the Agape Hospice House, Columbia, SC. Born in Harlan, KY, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Fee Mullins of Rose Hill, VA.She was a 1959 graduate of Flatwood High School in Lee County, VA.She attended the Knoxville Tennessee School of Business, class of 1962.She worked 5 years as a payroll manager. Emma married James Dalton in 1963 and enjoyed her role as a full time wife and mother.She was very supportive of her husband’s 42 years as a Professional with the Boy Scouts of America.She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.She adored her granddaughters and wanted to spend as much time as she could with them.They enjoyed frequent aquatic adventures on Lake Murray in Gilbert, SC. Emma loved the Carolina Gamecocks and attended all home games and numerous road games after the family moved to Columbia in 1982. Emma was a member of the Northside Baptist Church, Lexington, SC.She and her husband were blessed with many travel experiences and the memories of them.Her trip most fondly remembered was a week in Paris, France in 1986. She is survived by her husband, James Dalton; son, David Michael Dalton of Columbia, SC: daughter-in-law, Wende Settle Dalton of Ladson, SC; granddaughters, Jose, 14, Gracie, 12, and step-granddaughter, Hayden Settle Price, 18 of Ladson, SC; sister-in-law, Joyce Chambers Mullins and nephew, Kevin Mullins of Morristown, TN.She is preceded in death by her son, Scott Allen Dalton, her parents, Charles and Mary Mullins and a brother, Larry Mullins. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Temples-Halloran Funeral Home formerly Caughman -Harman, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.Funeral services will be Friday, August 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Temples-Halloran Funeral Home.Reverend Kevin Thumpston will officiate and Pastor Jane Mitcham will assist. Interment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens.Following the interment service, there will be a lunch for friends and family at the Zion Lutheran Church, 226 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or the Indian Waters Council, BSA, 715 Betsy Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.
