COLUMBIA—Toni Simmons Chavis, 51, of Columbia died Monday, April 3, 2017.Services for Mrs. Chavis will be held 11:00 am Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, South Carolina, 29212 with burial following in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6 until 8:00 pm at funeral home. Mrs. Chavis was born in Akron, Ohio on July 1, 1965. She is the daughter of Pauline Powers Simmons and the late William Bradford Simmons. Toni was a loving wife, mother and “Granna.”She was a homemaker, beach lover and an avid animal lover, especially to her beloved “Star-Star.” Toni was her children and grandchildren’s biggest fan.She supported them in all of their sporting activities by volunteering her time and cheering them on from the stands. Toni is survived byher husband Alva Carl Chavis of 21 years; daughters, Brandi Waters (Jason), Carly (Mike), Casey and Crystal Chavis (Steve); sons, Tanner (Sophie), Jarrett (Dashae), Keith and Andy Chavis; brother, Kirk Simmons; sisters Terri Martin (Rudy) and Tracy Simmons (Don). Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Mrs. Chavis was predeceased by her brother,Mark Alan Simmons.
