Tommy Rivers

The memorial service for Thomas Franklin “Tommy” Rivers, 60, of Columbia, will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the cryptside of Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.A private family inurnment will be held at a future date.Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, masks will be requested and social distancing observed. Tommy was born in Columbia, SC on July 8, 1960. He was the son of the late Ronald Wayne Rivers and his surviving parents, Ramona Dantzler Lanier and Papa Jack Lanier.He passed away on August 23, 2020, at the Prima Health Baptist Hospital. Tommy was a loving father, son, and brother. He was a free spirit who often “marched to the beat of a different drummer”.He loved to ride his motorcycle and tinker with all things mechanical. Tommy was accomplished in many trades and could fix almost anything. His daughter, Natasha, was his pride and joy. Survivors include his mother, Ramona Dantzler Lanier, and his dad, Jack Lanier,of Blythewood; daughter, Natasha Neroshchin her husband, Arthur of Irmo; his grandpup “Sasha”; sisters, Wendy Rivers of Austin, Texas and Laura Sawyer (Trey) of Blythewood;brothers, Ronnie Rivers of West Columbia and Kevin Rivers (Christy) of West Columbia; uncle, Mark Dantzler of Columbia; aunts, Patricia Richardson of Covington, GA., and Bonnie Dantzler of Lexington; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Those who preceded him in death were his grandparents, Muriel and Marvin Dantzler, and his uncle Russ Dantzler.
