Tom S. Taylor

COLUMBIA—Thomas Stanley Taylor, 85, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 at his home in Columbia, South Carolina. Tom was born August 6, 1930 to Vera and Charles Taylor in Herington, Kansas, the youngest of three brothers. Tom was married to Betty Garver and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Tom served in the Army and retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1983. Tom loved to spend time with his family and friends.He was a member of Dutch Fork Christian Church and loved the Lord. He was an avid golfer and served as the President of Columbia Country Club. Tom is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Denise (Edward) Salyer; son, Russ; grandchildren, Lauren, Thomas and great granddaughter London; brother, Bill Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Chuck Taylor. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 at 11:00 am with Reverend JD Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Temple-Halloran Funeral Home in Columbia.
