IRMO-Timothy Ryan Assemany, 59, passed away Tuesday February 3, 2015 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.A memorial service will be held at Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington Ave, Chapin SC 29036 at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015. The family will see friends in the Narthex Hall from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday morning.Friends and family are welcome to gather at the Barn following services. Timothy was born in Detroit, Michigan.He was the fifth of six children of James Theodore II and the late Mary Lee Flynn Assemany.He was raised in the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville, Michigan. Growing up on the Flynn Farm in Novi, Michigan with a large family, he enjoyed pick up baseball games, practical jokes and mini bike riding.He learned the value of hard work from daily chores on the farm. Tim inherited his love for the Detroit Tigers by listening to the great Ernie Harwell radio broadcasts on warm summer evenings and never missed an opening day. He lettered in football and baseball at Novi High School where he gained a love of sports.During this time he met his lifelong love and wife of 38 years, Lynn Ford Assemany. Moving to Columbia, in 1978, Tim entered the family pool business with Columbia Pools and continued his career with Imperial Pools and Griffin Pools and Spa.He mastered his craft while working alongside his Dad and brothers, Jimbo and Danny. Shortly after, their life blossomed with the arrivals of their three children, who along with his wife Lynn, became the center of his life.His life was enriched by his family and many loyal friends, who gathered regularly for birthdays, kibbi dinners, and Clemson games in the Bullpen. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Lynn Assemany; daughters, Dawn Assemany of Irmo, Amy Duke (George) of Lexington; son, Robby Assemany of Irmo; sisters, Peggy Gibson (Jimmy) of Columbia, Sara Sticker (Kim) of Howell, Michigan; brothers, Greg Assemany of Irmo, James Assemany (Darcy) of Chapin and Danny Assemany (Kim) of Columbia.
