COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Thomas Vance Williams, 86, of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Park Street Baptist Church, 2204 Park Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Officiating will be Mr. Andy Stokes and the Reverend Lawrence Dennis.Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.Pallbearers will be Michael Wells, David Wells, Patrick Connor, Brian Wichman, Tommy Bowles and Ivan Wells. The family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Temples Halloran Funeral Home will be assisting the family. Mr. Williams, beloved husband of the late Betty Hensley Williams for 50 years, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, born in Greenville, SC he was the son of the late George Thomas Williams and Lillian Johnson Williams. He started working at age 10 selling newspapers on the street corners in downtown Columbia to help support his family. He later went on to a successful career in the food service industry, started out at Kraft’s Food, where he won many awards as the top salesman, later went on to Smithfield Hams, where he was salesman of the year and retired from Reckitt Coleman Food Service after 40 years of service. He was a member of Park Street Baptist Church of over 70 years.He was a member of the Church Choir, a Deacon, Keenagers Church Bowling League and was a coach for the church softball team.He enjoyed playing golf among many other sports. Vance loved his Lord Jesus Christ, his Church and his family time together.He was proud of all his children and their accomplishments. Adored his grandchildren and delighted in his great-grandchildren. Surviving are his 3 daughters, Dottie Covington (Mike), Patti Carter McKown (Bob) and Terri Connor (Don); 4 grandchildren, Michael Wells (Victoria), David Wells (Annie), Kristin Carter Wichman (Brian) and Patrick Connor; 4 great grandchildren, Kiana Wells, Jett Wichman, Maxci Grace Wichman, Madison Wichman; siblings, Dorothy Williams, Mary Ellen Bishop, Joanne Harrison, Thad Williams and Jeanne Mitchell; family friend, Ivan Wells and his grand-dog, Chris. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Williams, son-in-law, Maxcy Carter and Dorothy Williams. Memorials may be made to Park Street Baptist Church, 2204 Park Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
