COLUMBIA—A memorial service for Thomas “Tommy” Allen Cline, 98, of Columbia, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 5, 2018 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212, the Reverend John Trump will officiate.Burial will follow at 12 noon in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.The family will greet friends from 9:00- 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Tommy, born January 26, 1920 to the late Charles M. and Winnie Harper Cline of Columbia, SC, died on Monday, February 26, 2018, at the Dorn VA Hospital.Tommy is survived by three sons, Allen W. Cline (Sally), Robin D. Cline and James L. Cline.Tommy is pre-deceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Fay Warner Cline. Tommy was a kind hearted, outgoing, and inspirational person who exemplified character, integrity, and dignity.Growing up in Columbia, SC, Tommy was industrious and self-reliant at an early age.After graduating from Columbia High School in 1938, he became parts manager for Hood Motors.In October 1941, two months prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor, Tommy enlisted in the Army Air Corps, serving honorably in the Eight and Fifteenth Air Force in England and North Africa.Tommy was a Staff Sergeant and Disabled Veteran. After WWII he returned to Columbia and married Fay Warner of White Rock, SC.Tommy worked at the Cadillac-Oldsmobile dealership, serving as an accomplished Salesman and Sales Manager.After 38 years Tommy retired.Tommy devoted much of his time to volunteerism in the community. He served on the Richland County Planning Commission. He was an active member of the Ruritanand Masonic Lodge.As a life long member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Tommy served on Church council and spearheaded efforts to procure two buses with S&H Green Stamps. Tommy was a devoted husband, wonderful father and role model.
