Thomas Wade Downs

The memorial service for Thomas Wade “Tommy” Downs, 75, of Chapin will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023 in the chapel of Temples-Halloran Funeral Home. Mrs. Connie Downs White will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:50 a.m. on the day of the service. Tommy was born on October 13, 1948, in Columbia and passed away on November 27, 2023, at Lexington Medical Center. He was the son of the late Wade Newton Downs and Elizabeth June Belcher Downs. He was a graduate of Dreher High School Class of 1966 and proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam. Tommy was the owner of T.D. Rentals. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR. Tommy was known for his Daytona 500 parties. Tommy is survived by his son, Michael W. “Mike” Downs (Melissa), of Chapin, and his brother, Jon Downs (Kim), of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kaylen S. Parrish and Kyle S. Parrish; his great-grandchildren, Harrison Carson Craft, Hannah Grace Parrish, and Hurley Michael Parrish; and nieces, Melissa Bliss, Nichole Clayton, and Jennifer Berman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandchild Kensey Shyann Downs.
