The funeral service for Thomas Richard Dawson, 81, of Lexington will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, S.C. 29212.The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel, Reverend David Lauten will officiate. Mr. Dawson was born on April 29, 1940, in Mt. Sterling, Ohio, and departed this earthly life on December 31, 2021.He was the son of the late Thomas O. Dawson and Norma Elizabeth Wasner Dawson.He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.Mr. Dawson was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbia and retired from N.C.R. after 34 years of dedicated service.He began his career with N.C.R. in Ohio and later transferred to Columbia, S.C. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Terri J. Dawson, of the home; sons, Greg Dawson (Kim); Kevin Dawson (fiancé Leigh Allman); sisters, Jonie St. Pierre (Daryl); Linda Hix; brothers, John Dawson; Doug Dawson (Mary); grandsons, Brian Dawson (Amanda); Brad Dawson (Whitney); and great-grandchildren, Riley, Fischer, Zachary, Nicholas, and Alexander. Those that preceded him in death besides his parents include brother-in-law, Les Hix; and sister-in-law, Darlene Dawson. Memorials in Mr. Dawson’s honor may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
