Theresa Marie Morris

Columbia - Theresa Marie Morris, 91, entered into eternal rest on March 6, 2020.Mrs. Morris was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on April 5, 1928 to parents Charles and Gwendolyn Potter.Theresa was married to her late husband, Mr. Henry Layton Morris for 50 years and together they raised six children.In 1976, the family moved from Connecticut to South Carolina and Mrs. Morris worked as a homemaker caring for her family. Mrs. Morris was a member of the Legion of Mary at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church.Her commitment to this group fostered her devotion to Mary by doing good works in her name for the glory of God.Mrs. Morris was also a dedicated mother to her six children, grandmother to 15 grandchildren, and great grandmother to 31 great grandchildren.In addition to her many gifts, Theresa also had a love for gardening. Mrs. Morris was predeceased by her parents, husband, two brothers, and four sisters.Those who mourn her passing but celebrate her life include a son, John Layton Morris (Cheri); and daughters, Catherine Marie Simeone (John), Joan Theresa Merkel (Darrell), Patricia Lynn Schroeder (Barry), Mary Martha Lewis (Dean), and Sharon Louise Shiel (Andy). A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Theresa Marie Morris will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 13, 2020 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210.Officiating will be Reverend Peter Sousa C.Ss.R., Pastor. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, S.C. 29212.The Rosary will be recited from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church building fund.
