Theodore H. "Ted" Reading

Funeral services for Theodore H. Reading, 87 of Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 28, 2021, at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC.Reverend Bill Haselden will be officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.A private burial will be held in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery at a later date. Born February 25, 1934, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, he was the son of the late Donald Reading and Dorothy Peck Reading.He was a devoted follower of Christ and a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church. Ted retired from a career in banking and accounting.He also owned and operated Waterworks Landscaping Supply.Ted was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. A loving husband and father, he is survived by his son, Theodore H. Reading II (Robbie); daughters, Jill R. Finnesand (Doug) and Amy R. Steiner (Sean).He was a grandfather of eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Hardin Reading; and daughter, Tracey R. Walling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
