Mrs. Susan Elaine Moore Gunter age 63 of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on September 3, 2022, from cancer. Susan, daughter of the late Jack Moore and Lucile Burt Moore, was born in Columbia, SC, on December 20, 1958. She received her Bachelors in Accounting from the University of South Carolina. Susan will be remembered most for her love of Jesus and her family. Susan was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and was very involved in the women’s ministry there. With an unwavering passion for the study of God’s word, Susan invested her time and energy at Bible Study Fellowship for many years and loved being a group leader. Another passion of hers involved reading Christian books and then sharing them with others, always hoping to strengthen their walk with Jesus. All of her ministry experiences culminated in shepherding a wonderful group of church ladies at our church’s small group ministry called Connect Groups. Susan felt at home there and was heartbroken when her illness demanded her absence. The spiritual legacy of this godly woman will live in the hearts of her family always. Susan was a prayer warrior, especially for her family. She never deviated from her morning ritual: she prayed for her children and her husband before going about her day. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Jack, and Bruce Moore. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Timothy Allen Gunter, Sr. “Tim”, to whom she was married on June 6, 1980; eight children, Jenny Eaves (John), Anna Leonard (Jason), Meghan Herndon (Mark), Kaitlin Gunter, Tim Gunter (Etta), Caroline Gunter, Elyssa Gunter, and Rebecca Choong (Ben); and thirteen grandchildren, Adah Herndon, Silas Herndon, Nora Herndon, Jack Leonard, Blythe Leonard, Audrey Leonard, Charlotte Eaves, Claire Eaves, Grace Gunter, Adelaide Gunter, Eliza Gunter, Owen Gunter, and Ryder Brunson. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, 9/08, at 6:00 PM at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Graveside and interment services will be held Saturday 9/10, at 1:00 PM at Bush River Memorial Gardens in Columbia, SC. Gathering of Family & Friends will be held 4-6 PM Thursday at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Chapel and Temples Halloran Funeral Home
