Stephen "Steve" Harrison

October 5, 1954 — June 22, 2022

Stephen White Harrison, 67, of Lexington, SC passed away while doing what he loved, walking outside enjoying nature and wildlife on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. A service for Steve will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Centennial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church at 1413 Laurel St. Columbia, SC 29201. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Rd, Columbia, SC 29212. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. The Reverend David Setzer will officiate. Steve was born in Columbia, SC on October 5, 1954 to the late Amos Astor Harrison and Laura Elizabeth Robertson Harrison. He was a graduate of A. C. Flora High School and attended the University of South Carolina. He worked in management at Winn Dixie Stores for many years until he retired. During his retirement, he was proud of his work with Sunset Felines. Steve loved God, his family and being outdoors. His love for animals began as a child when he had many different types of pets. That’s also when he started educating himself about snakes. Steve enjoyed fishing and taking long walks in the woods, looking for snakes that he could photograph. He also enjoyed sports. Specifically he loved baseball and basketball. You could often find him playing basketball in his driveway, preferably with his boys but often alone just to get some exercise and of course to see how many shots he could make in a row. He once made 42 straight! Surviving are his loving wife of 30 years, Allison Harrison; sons Chris Harrison of Woodruff and Ricky Harrison of Lexington; a step-son, Rion Lane; brothers, Dickie Harrison of West Columbia and Randy Harrison (Evie) of Greer; a nephew, John Harrison (Anna and her children Sara Ann and Harrison) of Chapin; great-nephew, John Earl Harrison (Brianna and their daughter Adaline); great-niece, Geneva Harrison (and her son Colt); and his pet cat Oreo. He was also predeceased by his most loving grandmother, Sarah Geneva White Robertson. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Drive, Ste 301, Cayce, SC 29033 or Centennial ARP Church, 1413 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
