A celebration of Dale’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, South Carolina, 29212. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the hour of service. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring his incredible journey.
Dale, a cherished soul whose life was filled with passion, music, devotion, and love, passed away after a very short but courageous two-month battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife and partner of 17 years: Chanda Burnett-Miles; his brother: Ray Miles (Carol); sisters-in-law: Judy Miles, Tara Haney (John), and Chelsea Slaughter (David); a host of beloved nieces and nephews; and his best friend: Joshua “Stik” Collins. He is predeceased by his father, Cleo Miles; his mother, Ida Miles; his sister, Ila Morris Caulk; and his brother, Ted Miles. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and inspiration.
Dale’s love for music was a defining part of his life. For many years, he brought joy and connection to others through his musical talents, a gift that touched everyone who heard him play. His melodies will remain in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to listen.
Dale found fulfillment as a real estate broker, where he helped others discover their dream homes with care and professionalism. Later, he worked for Columbia Shelving and Mirror for 20+ years, applying his skill and precision to custom mirrors, and blinds. His dedication and work ethic were evident in everything he did.
Beyond his music and work, Dale had a deep and abiding love for his home life and family. Together with his beloved wife and partner Chanda, he created a home filled with warmth and care, where they lovingly raised their dogs: Stella, Willow, Cash, Chloe and Lola; cats: Mason and Sophie; their 11 ducks; and 6 geese. His devotion to his family—both human and animal—was a testament to his kind and generous heart.
Dale also shared a special bond with his best friend, Stik, whose devoted friendship brought countless moments of laughter, support, and shared memories. Their connection was a source of joy and strength throughout Dale’s life, and Stik’s presence was a true blessing.
Dale will be remembered not only for his talents and work but for his warm heart, gentle spirit, and the love he shared with family, friends, and all living things. His spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
May his music play on and his love for life continue to inspire us all!
