COLUMBIA—A funeral service for Sarah Strickland, 91, of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212, burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens.The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Sarah, beloved wife of the late John Henry Strickland, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.Born in Whitmire, SC, she was the daughter of the late James and Mollie Baker Seymore.Sarah and John were members of Fairfield Good Sam’s Camping Club and were regulars every Friday at Bill’s Music Shop and Picking Parlor.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She was a home daycare provider and lovingly known as “Nannie” to many children through out the years. Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Mac Swain of Chapin; grandchildren, Justin Swain (Aimee) and Michael Swain (Christy); great-grandchildren, Kylie, Jesse, Greta and Charlotte; along with several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Henry Strickland and daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Michael King. Sarah was a very giving person.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
