Sandra Lou Griffith, 84, passed away surrounded by her loving family and friends on November 20th, 2023. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on June 28th, 1939. Sandra shared Texas memories throughout her life, always maintaining her status as a true Texan. Sandra was married to the late Air Force pilot, Major Earl E. Griffith, and their union lasted for 51 years. Midway through her life, Sandra settled in Hampton, Virginia, where she worked in a successful daycare business for close to 10 years. Hampton is where Sandra formed very strong and close friendships with a group that shared in her passion for travel, the love of food in a gourmet group, and friends she could play golf with whenever possible. In her later years, Sandra retired to Columbia, South Carolina, and formed a special bond with another close and dear friend, Jean Westmoreland. Our family can never thank Jean enough for the friendship, care, and patience she provided for Sandra. Sandra's overall joy in life stemmed from family gatherings, competitive games, and family traditions - all of which we plan to continue in celebration of her life. Sandra is survived by her daughter: Gynger Cunningham, her son and daughter-in-law: Garrett and Rachel Griffith, her six grandchildren: Chandler, Nicholas, Aidan, Carson, Dylan and Emerson, her granddaughter-in-law: Savannah Griffith, her great-grandchild: Maren Griffith, and Nicole Cook. A celebration of her life has been planned for 2:00 PM on December 10th, 2023, in the chapel of Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, South Carolina, 29212. Reverend Dr. Chris Denny will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
