A Service to celebrate and remember Sammy Temples, 75, of 144 Breezy Bay Circle, Gilbert, SC will be held at 11 am Friday, May 24, 2024, at Center Pointe Community Church, Lexington, SC. Following the service, friends and family are invited to share in a visitation together. Pastor David Moore will officiate and, according to Sammy’s style, dress will be very casual. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Lexington Christian Counseling, a ministry that was supported by Sammy for over 25 years through time, hard work, and personal finances. Born and raised by Girlie and Ellis Temples, Sammy was their middle of 5 children. His parents preceded him in the welcoming arms of Jesus. Sammy graduated from Brookland Cayce High School in 1967 and was a proud member of the State Championship Football team as a Senior. He also graduated from USC (GO Gamecocks!) and was a US Marine. Although he was owner of the company, Sammy declared that he was a brick layer that started his trade in the back of his daddy’s pick-up riding to the jobs as a young boy. After leading T&T Masonry for 16 years with his brother Joel, he was President of Sam Temples Masonry for 32 years. Sammy’s stated ministry goal was to train and assist men to have a purpose and to enable them to support their families. A small crew continued to work for him (some for 20+ years) along with many loyal past employees that went on to start their own companies. Sammy and Robin certainly enjoyed working together teaching Sunday School to College Age, Adult, and Nearly Wed-Newly Wed classes, as well as heading up a Marriage Mentoring Ministry to prepare couples marrying at Lexington Baptist Church. Sammy also went on mission trips out of the country. Surviving are his wife, Robin F. Temples, children Vance, Scott (Chrissy), Dawn (Bruce), Jamie, and Missy, in order of birth. His grandchildren are Jordyn, Christopher, Tyler, Paige, Cayce, Jack, Wes, Rayvin, Riley, and Harley. His God daughter, Lori, must be named as another one that he loved dearly. His very close siblings are EvaLynn (Len), Fuller, Jesse (Debra), and Joel (Linda). The rest of the special folks that Sammy called family would know who they are and know that he counted himself blessed to be able to love on them! He was also preceded in sorrow by beloved dogs Summer and Autumn. Sammy, dearest Sammy: intentional child of God, simplistic lover of others, caring and tenderhearted husband and partner, selfless father, natural giver, loyal friend and brother, tired-less worker following his dad Ellis, quiet leader of boys to men, dedicated dog daddy, deeply sensitive man, humble spiritual influencer, pontoon captain, gracious to all. Many will feel his absence.
