Samuel “Sammy” Tumaini Nagi Njuguna was born on March 4th, 1988 at Lexington Medical Center in Columbia SC. He died suddenly at Prisma Health on June 10th, 2023 at 8:15am. Nagi (Sammy) was born & raised in Columbia, South Carolina. His parents are originally from Kenya, East Africa. He attended Dutch Fork Elementary, Dutch Fork Middle and Dutch Fork High School, graduating in 2006. He spent part of his high school at the historic Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, Kenya. Nagi attended Trinity College in Deerfield, IL, Denmark Technical College in Denmark, SC, and Francis Marion University in Florence, SC. He was a Kenyan-American actor. He began acting in middle school with hometown friends in Irmo, South Carolina. As a teenager, Nagi trained heavily in theater, playing lead roles in high school, local community productions and commercials. Nagi starred in movies such as The 5th Quarter (2010). In his latest movie, Nagi played the role of a Nigerian vampire "Tunde" in the Amazon Prime movie titled Black as Night (2021). In his career as an actor, he trained and performed all of his own stunts. Sammy "Nagi" Njuguna was represented by talent agents Brenda Netzberger at Open Range, Sheila Legette at SLE, and managed by David Koth at Authentic Talent and Literary Management. Nagi Jr. is survived by his father Dr. Sam Nagi, his mother Dr. Peninah Nduta. an older sister Zawadi Njuguna, and a younger brother Baraka Njuguna aka "Barack Jacuzzi”. Both siblings currently reside in Nairobi, Kenya.
