COLUMBIA—A graveside service for Samuel W. Roberts, 80, of Columbia, will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229 with full military honors.The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 prior to the service. Mr. Roberts, beloved husband of Eleanor Sue Dingus Roberts, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Born in Lawrence County, TN, he was the son of the late Fred Roosevelt Roberts and Nola Way Cox Roberts.He retired from the United States Army after serving over 20 years. His tours of duty included Germany, Italy and Vietnam. Following his military service Sam began his second career as a machine operator at Westinghouse Nuclear Plant, from which he retired after 28 years. Surviving in addition to his wife of27 years, Eleanor Roberts, Columbia; son, Roberto Roberts and wife Beth of Irmo; daughter, Angie Roberts of Lexington; step-daughters,Lisa Shealy and husband, Trevis of Prosperity, Connie Watts of Irmo, Julie Woodwyk and husband James of Gilbert; step-son,Larry Watts of West Columbia; grandchildren, Michael Roberts, Katy Roberts, Philip Roberts, Ryan Shealy and Lauren Shealy, Morgan Woodwyk and R.J. Woodwyk, Larry Watts and Stephanie Watts; great-grandchildren, Vincente and Christian Roberts; as well as two family dogs, Daisy and Samantha.
