ELGIN- Mr. Roy Asbill, 99, went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife on January 18, 2025.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday January 24, 2025, in the chapel of Temples-Halloran Funeral Home with burial featuring military honors to follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Roy was born September 26, 1925, in Batesburg, SC to Willard and Mae Kneece Asbill. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy and was stationed in Key West, Fl. Roy was a retired Extruder Supervisor for Southern Plastics, where he received many attendance awards. He was a member of Batesburg Church of God and Midway Methodist Church in Columbia. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, sense of humor, love of his family and how he would take pride in the way he dressed, always wearing a tie from his massive tie collection when leaving the house. Roy enjoyed fishing and one of his greatest passions was working in his yard.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Agnes Asbill; a son, Randy Asbill; two daughters, Debbie Asbill, Nancy Kelly; a grandson, Keith Thompson; two brothers, Henderson Asbill, Crosson Asbill and six sisters, Louise Senterfeit , Evelyene Waters, Inez Smith, Elise Anderson, Margaret Leaphart, Fannie Miller.
Those left to cherish his memories include his children, Richard Wayne Asbill (Donna), Wanda Thompson Hall (Ted); six grandchildren, Andrea Kelly, Jennifer Smith, Duane Asbill, David Kelly, Tara Asbill, Michael Thompson; ten great grandchildren and eight great- great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Debbie Simpson for her unwavering love and dedicated care as Roy’s caregiver over the past five years. The joy and companionship you brought to his life were truly immeasurable. The family also wishes to express their deepest thanks to the staff of Lutheran Hospice and Dr. John Gould for their compassion and exceptional care during this time.
