Rosemary Yarborough

March 13, 1929 — January 18, 2022

Rosemary “Oma” Yarborough, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022. Rosemary was born in Passaic, New Jersey on March 13, 1929. She moved back to her parent's native country of Austria where she grew up in the small village of Hausmannstatten and endured the struggles of the Second World War. After the war ended, she discovered her American citizenship and embarked on a journey to New York City on a military ship at age 16, without speaking a word of English. Later her life crossed paths with her future husband, Will, in a dance hall in Alameda, California. From there it was over 60 years of love, devotion, family, and fellowship. Rosemary loved to dance, especially to Polka music. No matter how bad she was feeling if Polka music came on, she was automatically tapping her feet and fingers. “Oma” loved to cook for her family and made sure that you left her table stuffed. She made those around her laugh, love, and feel welcomed. Rosemary is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, William Day Yarborough; son, John Kurt Lederhaus (Janice Waack); daughter, Laura Lederhaus-McLeod (Clifford); sister, Hilda Wagner; grandchildren, John N. Lederhaus (Meghan), Tanner W. McLeod, Sarah Addison McLeod (Logan); great-grandchildren, David Lederhaus and Carson Lederhaus; nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, Rosa (Hecht) and Johann Brueckler, and a brother, John Brueckler. She loved her family deeply and we take comfort in knowing Oma is at peace with God in Heaven. Rosemary was a charter member of Irmo First Baptist and a member of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church. She was formerly employed at Irmo Middle School Campus R. The family wants to say a special thank you to all the employees at Lowman Home and Carol Campbell Place. They are our extended family and we appreciate all the love and compassion they showed “Oma” and the rest of the family. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Temples Halloran Funeral Home on Monday, January 24, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. The Yarborough family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00. Reverend Paul Poynor will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in Rosemary’s name to your most heartfelt charity. Social distancing will be practiced and masks must be worn for the visitation and service. Ich Liebe Dich!!!
