IRMO—Rose Ellen Magruder, 81, of Irmo, passed from this life to Eternal Life with Jesus Christ on Friday, November 13, 2015.The visitation will be held at Temples-Halloran Funeral & Cremation Services, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.Her celebration will be Monday, November 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, Irmo, SC. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The service will be officiated by Dr. Ed Carney, Dr. Tim Phillips, Rev. Wayne Cole, Rev. Stuart Condra and Rev. Tim Hawkins. Pallbearers are Dr. James Caldwell, Gary Watts, Mike Blakely, Ron Palmer, Cecil Scoggins and Marvin Carver. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was the first born to the late Lee Otis and Rose Lee Anderson Hutto on April 29, 1934 in Shelby, NC. Rose Ellen graduated from Columbia College in 1956 with a Music degree. She taught piano and organ for over 40 years. She was the Organist for Riverland Hills Baptist Church since 1969 and was the Owner of Magruder Window Coverings since 1986 but began manufacturing window treatments in the early 60’s. The family would use the words of Proverbs 31:10-31 to describe her character and faith. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, George Milton Magruder, III, of Columbia,sons,James Michael (Scarlet) of Irmo, SC and Thomas Oliver (Melanie) of Columbia, SC. She is also survived by a brother, James Otis (Diane) Hutto of Bogart, Ga. She is survived by two grand-children, George Bruce (Heather) Fagan, Jr. of Columbia, SC and Sarah Katherine (Jason) Guillian of Washington, DC. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, McKinsey Lynn Grice, Ridley Sky Fagan, Caroline Ruth and Virginia Parker Guillian. She leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063 benevolence or the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
