Chapin, South Carolina – Ronnie Lee Young, an esteemed businessman, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2025, at the age of 81, surrounded by his family.
Born in Roanoke, Virginia, on October 8, 1943, to Buren and Rosalee Young, Ron graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in mechanical engineering. His dedication to both his professional career and family was the hallmark of his life.
Ron was most proud of his founding and leadership of Medical Services of America (MSA), a healthcare company he established in 1973. Over the course of more than five decades, MSA grew into the respected business it is today, reflecting his tireless work ethic, vision, and unwavering commitment to providing quality healthcare. His colleagues and employees often described him as a person of integrity, who cared deeply about his work and the people he loved. Ron's passions extended beyond business and family. In his younger years, he was a pilot and had a great love for flying airplanes. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Carol and his parents. A proud Gamecock fan, he found joy in watching football, especially cheering for the University of South Carolina.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Warren Young, two grandchildren, Kalin Johnson and Coby Johnson, and his beloved poodle, "Candi," who he adored.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Carol Turner Young, sister Kathe Young, sister-in-law Libby Young, son Wayne Jeffcoat (Christy), daughters Ronda Johnson, Lisa Addy (Mike), and Carla Derrick, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ron's legacy of love, integrity, generosity and dedication will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Georgia Boggs, Shameka Moore, Michelle Hurst, Doris Smalls, Beth Falling, and Glenda’s Care, as well as Dr. Surbjinder Guram, Dr. Charlie Devlin, Angie Thomas, FNP, and all his dedicated physicians, nurses, therapists, caregivers and neighbors, Nat and Elaine Smith and Chad and Pam Lance for their compassionate support throughout his journey. Special thanks to MSA Home Health (Ashlee, Catherine, Alli and many more), MSA Hospice (Nica), and Medi Home Care for the exceptional care they provided.
