Ronald W. Medovic

Ronald W. Medovic, age 62, of Columbia, SC, passed away November 22, 2021, after a short battle with Cancer. Originally from Benwood, WV, Ron was a 1978 graduate of John Marshall HS in Glen Dale, WV. Ron served in the US Navy, aboard the USS Von Steuben Nuclear Sub, 1985-1989, and the US Navy Reserves, 1989-1993. Ron retired from commercial roofing after almost 30 years with Eagle Roofing of Charleston, Murton, and Aqua Seal in West Columbia. Ron always enjoyed family gatherings when he could get together to celebrate, no matter the occasion. He also enjoyed woodworking, home renovations, and fishing the hot spots at Lake Murray for whatever might bite. For him, it was all about fishing, not catching. Ron was an avid fan of THE USC Gamecocks football and loved attending games with family and friends. Proudly, he was on the crew that put the roof on the new scoreboard at Williams-Brice Stadium. He enjoyed watching USC Men’s and Women’s Basketball and attending USC Baseball games. Ron was also a life-long fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ron is survived by his mother, Alberta Medovic of Wheeling, WV; his wife of 22 years, Debra Branham Medovic; children, Bill (Brittany) Medovic of Goose Creek, Jennifer (Cliff) Medovic of Williamsburg, VA; stepchildren, Lee (Audra) Downs and Chris Downs of Pomaria, Tiffany Gibson of Chapin and Tina Stomm of Irmo. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Joe Charles, Jordan (Jared) Long, Kayla (Jeremy) Downs, Samantha, and Renee Downs, Brooke and Aubree Medovic, Chloe Winstead, Maddie Stomm, and Olivia Thompson great-grandchildren Rory and Lucy Long. A huge thank you to our neighbor, Steve Harris, for all your help. Ron loved your banter. A graveside service with Navy honors will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
