CHAPIN—The funeral service for Ronald “Ron” E. Huffman, 73, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Dutch Fork Baptist Church, 3517 Dreher Shoals Road, Irmo, SC 29063 with Dr. Chuck McAlister, Pastor Ron Schrock and Dr. Leon Boss officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Military Honors by the US Air Force.The visitation will be held from 6 pm-8 pm Thursday, July 5 , 2018 at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Ron was born on April 18, 1945, he was the son of the late Edward R. Huffman, MD and Margaret Bundrick Huffman.He entered Heaven onSaturday, June 30, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.He was a graduate of University High School and the former owner of Ron’s Texaco at Beltline and Devine, Columbia, SC.He later owned Big Corner Texaco and Car Wash in Anchorage, Alaska for 26 years. Big Corner was Texaco’s highest volume location for several years.Ron’s customers included governors, mayors, senators, and people from all walks of life.He mentored many young men and women whose first job was working at the car wash or station.When he wasn’t working he loved working on his Harleys, riding with friends, fishing for Salmon and Halibut, and snow plowing all winter. Ron truly cared about people, not just about their earthlyneeds, but about their future for eternity.He had business cards he handed out…”If we meet and you forget me, you have lost nothing, but if you meet Jesus Christ and forget Him you have lost everything.” So we aren’t saying goodbye to Ron, we’re saying see you later.His deepest hope would be that you could say that, too. Survivors include: Karen M. Huffman, his loving wife of 45 years; sons, Paul E. Huffman and fiancé (Darcy) ofSandy, Oregon andJason D. Huffman of Chapin; sister, Ruth Mashburn (Terry) of Columbia; grandchild,Althea Shamo (McKay) of Salt Lake City, Utah.Those who preceded him in death were his late parents and his step-mother, Elinor Hill.
