Brockton, Massachusetts-Staff Sergeant (U.S. Army Ret.) Robert Louis Singleton, 90, passed away on January 7, 2020, at his granddaughter’s home in Brockton, Massachusetts. Born June 29, 1929, in Blackwell, Texas, he was the son and eldest child of the late Robert Lunsford Singleton and Alma Jane (Cordell) Singleton. Bob was the loving husband of the late Roberta (Jackie) Singleton for 51 years. Staff Sergeant Singleton honorably served his country for nearly three decades and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars. In retirement, Mr. Singleton was a Lexington County employee with Solid Waste Management, as a collection station operator, for almost a decade. He is survived by his son Robert L. Singleton, Jr. and wife Michelle of Lexington, sister, Lillian Singleton of Collinsville, AL, Special Granddaughter Connie Boehner of Brockton, Massachusetts, and granddaughter Ann King of Lexington. He was known as Paw Paw or Pop to his numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughters Terry Coburn, Bobby Cook, and Lydia (Tootsie) Zeagler. Services with full Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2020, at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC, followed by burial at Bush River Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12-1:00 p.m. at the funeral.
