CHAPIN—Funeral services for Robert Dale Holland, Sr., 84, of Chapin, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 25, 2014 at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.Reverend Tim Hanley will officiate.Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens.The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Holland, beloved husband for 59 years to Peggy Martin Holland, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014.Born in Bowersville, GA, he was a son of the late Ferd Truman Holland and Ethel Dean Holland.He was a member of Chapin Presbyterian Church and a proud Veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea.He worked for Southern Bell for 34 years starting his career as a lineman and where he held several positions before retiring.He was a member of the Camden and Florence Lions Clubs and the Telephone Pioneers.He loved sports, especially Clemson football and Braves baseball; he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.He was the ultimate craftsman & handyman who loved to fix things.He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his loving wife, Peggy Holland of Chapin; daughter, Laura Yochum and husband, Kim of Lexington; sons, Dr. Robert Dale Holland, Jr. and wife, Theresa of Columbia and Russell Martin Holland and wife, Jann of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren, Robert Dale Holland III, Eva Marie Holland, Zachary Luke Yochum, Maxwell Kincade Holland, Truett Cash Holland, Lori Brooke Yochum and Drew Kelly Yochum. The family would like to thank the staff at Camellia Court at Lexington Extended Care for their care and devotion to our father.
