Robert Alexander “Bob” Faile, Jr. died peacefully on January 24, 2021.Bob was married for over 53 years to Jo Watts Faile, his high school sweetheart.Born on September 3, 1946 in Kershaw, SC to Robert A. Faile, Sr. and Marian Murphy Faile, he was raised in Winnsboro, SC.A veteran of the SC Army National Guard, Bob spent his career in the information technology field to include many years with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Companion Property & Casualty and IBM Global Services. Bob was a longtime member of St. Andrews Baptist Church in Columbia where he served as a deacon, a member of the finance committee and the men’s golf team.He loved escorting the women of the church to their Sunday school class each week, attending the Wednesday night prayer meeting and singing the great old hymns of the faith. Bob was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, his wife, his son, Robert A. “Ali” Faile III; daughter-in-law, Emily Faile; two granddaughters, Delaney and Berkley who were the light of Bob’s life; his sister, Linda Fikas, his brother Jimmy as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A private graveside for Bob will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. at Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212, with the Reverend Dr. Ronald “Dee” Vaughan officiating. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Baptist Church.Memorials may be sent to the St. Andrews Baptist Church Financial Freedom Fund, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210. Bob always greeted his family, friends and caregivers with his favorite expression, “It’s a wonderful life.”Indeed it was.
