The funeral service for Robert D. Cook, 84, formerly of Charleston, will be held this Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, in the Chapel of the Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC, 29212 at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Glenn Day of White Rock Baptist Church, officiating. The Cook Family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens with honors by the US Navy. Mr. Cook was born on January 31, 1938, in Barnwell, SC, and departed this earthly life on January 2, 2023. He was the son of the late Charles Herbert Cook and Alease Walters Cook. Mr. Cook was a member of White Rock Baptist Church. He was a proud Navy Veteran. Mr. Cook was a brick mason who later in life ran his own masonry company in the Charleston area. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 64 years, Merriel L. Cook. He is also survived by his daughters, Melody C. Clute (Charles F.) of Charleston and Lisa C. Mathias (Samuel D.) of Chapin; son, Robert D. Cook, Jr. (Christine) of Chapin; and sister, Patricia Gail Seabrook. Mr. Cook is survived by granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Clute and Melissa Faye Griffin; grandsons Jimmy Hardee, Seth Birkes, and Hunter Cook; great granddaughter, Isabella Johnson; and great grandsons, Jaycob Johnson, Colin Barnett, Jadie Griffin, Andrew Duncan Griffin, Jackson E. Hardee, Jagger Gorsky, Caleb Birkes, Maddox Davis, Chase Davis, Brady Davis, Dillon Upton, and Nick Hinton In addition to his parents, Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his brother, Charles William Cook and a grandson, Charles F.
