Rob R. Honeycutt, Jr. passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023, after an extended illness. Born at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, SC, on September 11, 1943, he was the son of the late Rob Roy Honeycutt, Sr. and the late Mary Ruth Fetner Honeycutt. After graduating from Dreher High School in 1961, Rob served in the US Air Force from 1962 to 1966 in Okinawa, Johnson Island and then at Shaw Air Force Base. After his military service, he was employed by Southern Bell in Columbia and then by AT&T, retiring in 2001. Upon retirement, Rob was a driver for several dealerships around Columbia to transport cars from dealer to dealer, mainly Honda of Columbia. He loved cars so this was a special treat for him to drive many different makes and models of cars on long trips. Rob was a long-time member of Palmetto Church of Christ, where he served overseeing building maintenance and assisting with the Fort Jackson ministry. He was talented in many ways taking on many building projects and had a keen interest in electronics and technology. He also had a vast knowledge of antique telephones specializing in the Sumter Telephone Manufacturing Company and their history. Rob is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Lina Honeycutt and his son, Jeff Honeycutt (Lisa). He is also survived by his brothers, Sam Honeycutt (Carol) and Jimmy Honeycutt (Jackie), and his sisters, Patti Honeycutt and Betty Honeycutt and by the loving family dog, Bennie. Mr. Honeycutt was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, William Neil Honeycutt; his daughter, Jane Spencer; and his brother, Tom Honeycutt. The funeral service for Mr. Honeycutt, will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Palmetto Church of Christ with the visitation from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Bush River Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palmetto Church of Christ or Southeastern Children’s Home.
