CAYCE—Funeral services for Richard Ely “Rick” Francis, 70, of Cayce will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Cayce United Methodist Church, 1600 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033. The Reverend Joseph James will officiate.Entombment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum,700 W. Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. Pallbearers will be Derek Barker, Mitchell Davis, Gavin Clark, Bill Pietrowitz, Loy Miller and Harold Byrd. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Rick, beloved husband of Patricia S. Francis, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017.Born in Milwaukee, WI, to the late Ely Francis and Louise McKeough Francis.Rick was a proud Veteran of8 years of the Air Force and served in many countries. He was a member of Cayce United Methodist Church, the Seeker Sunday School Class, serving as class treasurer, taught Youth and Adult Sunday School, served on Church Council, Board of Missions, Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee and Salkehatchie. He also took part in over a dozen missions trips around the world with United Methodist Volunteers in Missions (UMVIM). He retired from DHEC as an Electronic Technician. Rick loved helping other people, especially his family. He kept his tool belt with him at all times, never knowing when he might need it. Surviving in addition to his wife of 43 years, Patricia S. Francis of Cayce; daughters, Dawn Marie von Arnim (Shane) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Rebecca Arnim Clark of Columbia, and Dr. Alice Arnim Barker (Dr. Derek Barker) of Columbia; son, Lawrence Tod Arnim (Wendy) of Lexington; 5 grandchildren, Sierra Clark, Gavin Clark, Evan Barker, Sam Barker and Ginger Barker; brother, Thomas J. Francis (Pam) of Tucson, AZ; God-children, Matthew, Mitchell and Meghan. He was preceded in death by brother,James T. Francis.
