Richard L. Guy Ii

Richard Lawrence Guy II, 68, of Gilbert, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023. Born on February 6, 1955, in Auburn, New York, he was the son of Richard Lawrence Guy I and Marie A. Guy. Rich had a successful career in the Printing Industry, he worked for many printing companies throughout the country and retired from RR Donnelley of Columbia after more than 25 years. He was a lifelong lover of the outdoors. In recent years, Rich loved dreaming about what was next. He enjoyed camping, hunting, collecting treasures from local thrift stores, planning and executing his next project, and was always planting something he could later harvest... usually a fruit tree. He will be most remembered for his optimism, and strong work ethic. “I know there is no task I can’t handle, no problem I can’t solve, no obstacle I can’t overcome… I know because, Lord you are with me.” Rich is survived by his mother: Marie A. Guy of Lexington, sons: Richard L. Guy (Tabitha) of Irmo, Bradley M. Guy (Lindi) of King’s Mountain, NC, daughters: Melissa M. Hanna (Shane) of Lexington, and Michelle A. Schirra (Chad) of Lexington, his sister Donna Guy of Owego, NY, and his sister-in-law Patty Guy of Rochester, NY. He had 9 grandchildren: Olivia Schirra, Sydney Hanna, Austin Guy, Hudson Schirra, Annamarie Hanna, Shane Hanna, Skyler Guy, Caden Guy, and Harper Guy. Rich was predeceased by his wife of 26 years, Beverly, his father, Richard, his brother, Terry, and his grandson, Austin. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2350 Augusta Highway, Lexington, South Carolina, 29072 on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Joseph Romanoski officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday morning. Inurnment will follow services in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, South Carolina, 29212.
