Ralph Paul Durrett, a native of Atmore, AL and long time resident of Washington, DC, died on April 1 in Lexington, SC following a battle with cancer. Durrett, a 1983 graduate of Spring Hill College in Mobile, spent nearly three decades in Washington, working for the non-profit organizations Clean Water Action and Working America. A life-long Catholic, Durrett served as usher at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in DuPont Circle, a neighborhood he enjoyed and where he shared many happy times with friends and family. Durrett, the son of the late Ralph and Louise Durrett of Atmore, is survived by two sisters, Nancy D. Self (Ross) of Lexington, SC, and Mary Alma Durrett of West Columbia, SC, as well as one niece, Emily S. Funcik (Bob), and two great nephews, Caleb and Josh, who reside in Mount Pleasant, SC.
