Chapin—Ralph Elisha Cooper, 95, of Chapin, SC left this life on January 17, 2021, at Carroll Campbell Place.In light of the recent Covid virus, services will be announced at a later time. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Pearl Cooper; brothers, Elworth and Ray; sister, Mary.He is survived by his wife, Roberta; daughter, Karen Deaton (Thomas); sons, Mark Cooper (Debra) and Daniel Cooper; four grandchildren, Challie Griffin (Josh), Myles Cooper (Callie), Kelsey Fischer (Andrew), and Caycee Sills (Joey); six great-grandchildren. Ralph served in the navy in the South Pacific during World War 2. He graduated from Southwestern Louisianan Institute, now ULL, with a degree in Civil Engineering.Ralph had a long career in the Engineering Department with the Railroads that became CSX.He was a Licensed, Registered Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor during his work career.Ralph was a member of Chapin United Methodist Church and the Christian Fellowship SS Class.He was active in the church and community activities as long as he was able.Ralph enjoyed rabbit hunting with the Fricks, fishing, and working in his shop.
